Coaching it

How to get more from these practices.

Draw, then switch

A switch works best after the opposition has shifted towards the ball. Coach players to attract pressure on one side before going to the other.

Weight and accuracy

A long diagonal needs good technique. Mix short combinations with longer passes so players learn when each one is the right choice.

Be ready on the far side

The player who receives the switch should already have space and a plan. Coach the movement off the ball as well as the pass.

Questions
