Coaching it

How to get more from these practices.

Pass and receive together

A good pass is only half the job. The best passing practices coach the receiver’s body shape and first touch as much as the pass.

Patterns, then pressure

Start with a pattern to groove the technique, then add a defender or a time limit so the pass has to be made under pressure.

Play forward

Reward passes that break a line or find a player facing forward, so players learn when to pass and not just how.

Questions

What coaches ask.

What makes a good passing drill?
It repeats the pass many times, coaches the receiver as well as the passer, and adds pressure or a decision once the technique is in place. Each outline shows the coaching points from its video.
Are these practices free?
The practice outlines on this page are free to read, with the setup and key coaching points for each practice. The full coaching videos, progressions and player questions are in the Touchtight Club library, which you can try free for 14 days (card required).
