How it's set up
This functional practice takes place in a 45 by 50-yard area and focuses on developing solutions for moving and breaking down a low defensive block. We setup by splitting the area into three horizontal zones, with the opposition back 4 only allowed in the deepest zone and the midfield two allowed in the middle zone when defending. The objective for the team in possession is to move the ball and create opportunities to penetrate the low block and create goal scoring chances. We will work through four different solutions for the possession team to penetrate the low block and create attacking opportunities. If the defenders win possession, they can counter attack and finish in any of the three mini goals.
