How it's set up
This Small Sided Game is focused on combinations and first time finishing in a 6 v 3 situation. In a 30 x 25 yard playing area, two teams of 3 with 3 floaters for the team in possession compete with 4 goals placed on the sides of the field. The team with the ball can combine with the floaters when passing and needs to receive the ball from the outside floater in order to score with a one-touch finish.
Key coaching points
- Off the ball movement is key to retaining possession and creating scoring opportunities
- Encourage third man runners, they are key to scoring one touch finishes
- Defend as a unit to create less channels for attackers to exploit. Use overload to draw defenders in and play around their press.
