How it's set up
This practice takes place within a 50 by 45-yard area, incorporating three mini goals positioned inside the box to simulate different crossing scenarios.. Players begin centrally, circulating the ball while following their pass. Once the ball reaches the opposite-side winger, they must deliver a cross aimed at one of the three designated mini goals, emphasising accuracy and decision-making in their delivery. One goal represents a near-post run, another replicates a cut-back delivery, and the third simulates a lofted cross to the back post over the first two goals
Key coaching points
- Early Cross – A whipped delivery behind the defensive line or towards the front post.
- Byline Cross – A cut-back pass to the edge of the box or a lofted cross to the back post.
- Movement to Receive – Effective “show and go” movements to create space to receive
