Coaching this age group
U12-14 is where the game gets bigger in every sense — the pitch, the numbers (the move toward 9v9 and then 11v11), and the tactical picture a player is expected to hold in their head. It's also, physically, the most uneven age band coaches deal with: growth spurts hit different players at wildly different times, so a session that assumes uniform speed or strength will leave half the group behind. TouchTight's U12-14 library is built around introducing real positional play — units defending together, patterns of build-up play, pressing triggers — while staying constraint-led rather than shape-obsessed, so a player who's mid-growth-spurt and temporarily clumsy isn't punished for it. Practices lean on possession games with positional rules, transition moments (what happens the second the ball is won or lost), and the first real tactical vocabulary: pressing as a team, compactness, third-man runs. Off the ball as much as on it — this is the age where "what do I do when I don't have the ball" starts to matter as much as technique, and where a coach's session planning starts to look like a real curriculum rather than a bag of drills.
What's in the U12-14 library

Games with positional rules that teach spacing and cover without a lecture on formations.
Transition moments
What happens in the five seconds after winning or losing the ball — pressing triggers and recovery runs.
