Coaching it

How to get more from these practices.

Possession with a purpose

Keeping the ball is the start, not the goal. Many of these practices reward a pass through the middle, a switch or a dribble out.

Size the area to the challenge

A smaller area adds pressure and speeds up decisions; a bigger one gives time to scan and build.

Coach the turnover

Possession games lose the ball constantly. Use that: ask the team that loses it to press straight away.
