How it's set up
This practice takes place in a 20 by 20-yard area and focuses on developing possession when playing with a diamond setup. We will split the area into 4 zones, as shown in the session image, with a mini goal on two ends of the area. One team (Red) will start as the possession team with one player constrained in each zone, while the other team (Blue) will have two players actively pressing to win the ball and another two players waiting on the sidelines. The objective of the possession team is make 10 passes before being able to finish in either mini goal. Once a goal is scored, the two defensive players will switch out with teammates on the sidelines. If the defenders win the ball, they become the possession team with the other team now pressing in pairs.
