How it's set up
This functional practice takes place in a 45 by 50-yard area and focuses on developing combinations and finishing in different scenarios. We have 2 phases to the attack. To begin phase 1, one attacker (Gold 9) passes the ball to the defender (Blue 4) who passes to the 2nd attacker (Gold 10), triggering the 2 v 1 attack. After a goal is scored, this triggers Phase 2. One winger (Gold 11) combines with a wide teammate (Gold 3) before driving down the wing and delivering the cross into the box where a 2 v 1 attacking overload takes place. If the defender wins possession in either of the phases, they can pass to the outside attackers earning their team a point. After the 2nd attack ends, the defender switches out and the two attackers alternate. Alternate the side of the cross after every attack.
