How it's set up

This practice takes place in a 30 by 45 -yard area and focuses on developing the high press. We setup by splitting the playing area into two 20 by 30 yard zones, a 5 yard neutral zone and a goal and GK on each side. Players are split into 3 teams of 6 players each with a team starting in each main zone and the third team ( The Defenders ) starting in the neutral zone. To begin, the coach passes a ball inside a zone, triggering 3 defenders to start their press (6 v3). If the possession team makes 10 successful passes, they can finish past the GK. This will trigger play from the other side, with the other 3 defenders entering the zone. If the defenders win possession, they can switch play to the other zone, with the team that lost possession now becoming the pressing team.
