How it's set up
This practice takes place in a 50 by 60-yard area and focuses on developing defensive organisation and quick counters after turnovers of possession. We have three stations running simultaneously in this practice. Firstly, the two fullbacks (Red 3 & 2) work the physical stations by running up and down between the cones. The second station has the striker (Red 9) sprinting to the mannequins, receiving passes from the opposition CB’s and bouncing the ball back. The third station is where the 5 v 5 attack v defence game takes place (exclude Blue 4 who starts the game). The objective is for the defending team to win possession and trigger the counter by playing out to the fullbacks or striker. We will have a 5 v 3 attack in this scenario. Once the attack ends, we restart in the 5 v 5 attack v defence game.
